Slavery and goldWhen people think of Ghana, they tend to think of slaves and gold. And they are not completely wrong. Ghana has a long history of slavery (in which Denmark plays a big role), and has the second biggest gold production in Africa. This huge gold production also led to the name “gold coast” witch Ghana was named by the British for a long period of time
One of the biggest forts on the goldcoast, was build by Danes. Christiansburg. Today, it is used for the Ghanaian government, after a couple of modifications. Before all this though, the major part of Denmarks 100.000 slaves was sailed from Christiansburg to West India. About 20.000 salves died on the long journey. They either got sick or starved to death. |
EconomyGhanas economy is also great. They really reached out and got stuff going, so much that in 2011, Ghana was titled the worlds fastest growing economy. This has also helped Ghana to a lot of jobs, as Ghana has one of the lowest unemployed rates in all of Africa, with only about 6-8% of the population being unemployed

Democracy - With a twistGhana has a form of ”kings” in their different regions, though these “kings” are basically just are rich men. They mostly just work more as cultural symbols than real regents. They do have some influence on the society, but just as in Denmark, the democracy takes care of the bigger decisions
